Stand UP (Stand University for Parents) is a research-based, ten-week family engagement course for parents of elementary school children. Stand UP’s eight academic classes are focused on actionable steps parents can take immediately to get involved in their children’s academics and to ensure their children are on track to college.
We teach, practice, and revisit a few key topics: parental role-definition, parent-school relationships, understanding and acting on student data and grades, and specific strategies to help students learn at home.
This semester we’re working with 4 schools in Chicago, 3 schools in Memphis, and 2 schools in Phoenix with a goal of graduating over 400 parents.
